My name is Hope Howard and I am a senior at the Missouri School of Journalism. Currently, I'm working to produce and anchor segments at KBIA, the NPR affiliate in Columbia, Missouri while also working as an editor at Vox Magazine, Columbia's lifestyle magazine.
In the spring of 2018, I worked as an editorial intern at The Independent in London where I wrote feature stories and op-eds. The experience introduced me to the world of freelance writing; I currently freelance for The Independent when requested.
Most recently, I worked as a Public Relations Intern at Weber Shandwick in St. Louis, Missouri where I gained insight into the world of corporate and consumer public relations. There I worked on several accounts including Anheuser-Busch, Verizon and Coca-Cola. Specifically, I helped to secure media placements and conduct research to assist in strategy development.
I am confident that both of these internships, in addition to my work with local news media in Columbia, have prepared me for an exciting job in the world of journalism.
